Abstract

George Smith, executive director of the Sportman's Alliance of Maine, is a paid consultant to independent gubernatorial candidate Angus King, which raises questions about SAM's endorsement of King. The endorsement was a vote against Democratic candidate Joseph Brennan, whose support of the Big A hydroelectric dam and mining in northern Maine during his last terms as governor angered SAM.
