Abstract

An official with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has raised the possibility of using up to half of Loring Air Force Base as a wildlife refuge. The idea does not set well with members of the Loring Readjustment Committee who fear that such a move could limit industrial development at the base. A wildlife refuge would have limited economic impact on the area.
