Abstract

The Legislature's Energy and Natural Resources Committee heard from both supporters and opponents of Maine's newly adopted anti-smog regulations, which are modeled after California's tough standards. Maine's Board of Environmental Protection adopted rules that require cars to be equipped with new exhaust-cleaning devices beginning in 1996.
