Abstract

A notification by Central Maine Power Co. (CMP) that it can cost $150 or more to unplug a streetlight has angered a number of town officials throughout Maine. Streetlights generally are owned and maintained by CMP and leased to cities and towns. The cost of new lights, installed in the late 1980s, was spread over a 15-year period.
