Abstract

Genetic research on cystic fibrosis shows that a gene mutation once thought to be rare is actually very common. The finding greatly complicates diagnosis. Researchers at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor are screening the DNA of Maine families affected by the disease to find out which mutations of the gene are common here. Details.
