Abstract

A description of ArtVan, a "mobile arts therapy organization" for children started in Bath by Jamie Silvestri in 2004 and now operating in several Maine communities. This article focuses on the Lewiston/Auburn branch of the program, where many of the participants are originally from Somalia or other African countries. Describes the benefits of creating visual art and music and the ways creativity encourages positive interaction between participants.
