Abstract

The author, the hate crime victim service coordinator with the New England Arab American Organization, explains the difference between hate speech and hate crime, offers some statistics on the numbers of hate crimes committed in Maine in 2021, and discusses some of the barriers to reporting hate crimes. She also offers tips for reporting and provides information about organizations that can help.
