Abstract

A profile of Ebenezer Akakpo, an artist and designer who also happens to be an IT technician for the Maine Turnpike Authority. Discusses Akakpo's journey to Maine from his native Ghana. Describes how his study of jewelry making and design has led him to his other career in computers, and a sideline making water purification kits to send back to Ghana. Discusses adinkra (spelled "adrinka" in the article), ancient Ghanaian symbols which Akakpo integrates into his art.
