Abstract

Profile of Adama Delphine Fawundu - artist, Assistant Professor of Visual Arts at Columbia University, and author of MFON: Women Photographers of the African Diaspora - who served as artist-in-residence for Portland's Indigo Arts Alliance in June, 2022. Discusses the importance of "body memory" and "ancestral memory" in Fawundu's art, particularly in "For Mama Adama," a series inspired by her late grandmother, a textile artist, and the fabrics she created. Discusses Fawundu's experience in Maine, including a visit to Malaga Island.
