Abstract
An article detailing the events of a "community celebration of the coffees of East Africa" at Coffee By Design's Diamond Street location. Highlights of the day included Maza Mohamed's performance of the Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony - described here with a discussion of its history and cultural importance - and a presentation by Jean Christophe Rusatira of Umuko Coffee Importers. Rusatira's comments about the coffee business in Rwanda are expounded at length. Mohamed, Rusatira, and Coffee By Design founder Mary Allen Lindemann discuss how coffee and its production link to the health of the world, families, and community.
