Abstract

Discusses efforts by Rilwan Osman of Maine Immigrant and Refugee Services (MEIRS) and Charles Mugabe of Catholic Charities to assist the more than 200 Afghan evacuees who have arrived in Maine since September 2021. Over 120,000 Afghans were evacuated after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban and resettled in the United Sates by the Afghan Placement and Assistance Program (APA), administered by the U.S. State Department.
