Abstract
Profile of Prudent Ndihokubwayo, who recently graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a bachelor's degree in English. When he fled Burundi in 2011, he barely spoke English. USM hired him for their custodial crew. His work ethic and language skills (he speaks Kirundi, Swahili, and French, as well as English) earned him a promotion and he started taking classes at the university. He dreams of being a writer, in part to inspire children in Burundi.
