Abstract

"Politics & Other Mistakes" piece on John Orestis, a member of the state Productivity Realization Task Force, and the potential conflict of interest represented by his plan to consolidate auditing functions. Orestis owns of North Country Associates, which owns or manages several nursing homes. Maine Department of Human Services auditors discovered some $3 million in improper billings during recent audits conducted on NCA nursing homes.
