Abstract

Maine Won't Discriminate expected Sanford to support referendum Question One, citing the community's blue-collar, Christian voter profile. Each of Sanford's seven voter districts voted to defeat Question One, with one theory being that impoverished voters allied themselves with gays as a minority class. MWD was criticized for not having a gay-oriented message throughout the campaign, resulting in the formation of splinter groups and chapters plotting their own moves. Details.
