Abstract

The new Arts Conservatory Theater and Studio, the Maine State Music Theater and the University of Southern Maine are all investing in the long-term to become more self-sustaining. Selby Beebe, director and founder of ACTS, has taken out a five-year lease on her work space at 341 Cumberland Avenue, and USM has refurbished Main Stage theatre in Russell Hall on the Gorham campus. Maine State Music Theatre in Brunswick is producing original material, which eliminates royalties but involves risk. Details.
