Abstract
The Choices Mentoring Program, one of the social services offered by the People's Regional Opportunity Program in Portland, provides mentors for young girls. The program is designed to have an impact on self-defeating behaviors that girls often fall into during the teen years, and pushes girls to set goals for the future. PROP collaborated with the Business and Professional Women's Organization of Greater Portland to start Choices in the spring of 1995 as part of PROP's gender-specific programming, which deals directly with problems brought on by sexism.
