Abstract

"Edge" piece on the rebirth of the salon in Portland. The Dead Space Gallery, the Agape Center, Light of the Moon and On Balance are just some of the entities that have sponsored salons in recent months. Agape, founded by Gabriella Mira and Fred Lancaster, has held salons on topics including spirituality outside the organized church, dance, poetry, cooperative living, nutrition, chanting, drumming and singing. The Dead Space Gallery launched its first salon to commemorate the "Day Without Art" event during World AIDS Day.
