Abstract
"Soley Watch" piece on a lawsuit filed in December by ASCAP against Joe Soley's holding company, Monopoly Inc. The suit alleges that a band that played at Leo's Billiards, Soely's bar on the corner of Fore and Exchange streets in Portland, violated copyright law by playing tunes written by artists represented by ASCAP. The suit also alleges that Shamrock's, a Soley bar on Fore Street, played CD's without paying ASCAP licensing fees. Jim Goggin of the Portland law firm Verrill & Dana is representing ASCAP, and says they have a lien against Monopoly Inc.'s holdings in Cumberland County.
