Abstract
"City" piece on the reorganization of the State Theatre in Portland. State of the Arts, Inc. (START) is ready to take full control of the theater's operations, but a few legal hurdles remain. Michael Pearce, attorney for Perfect Pitch, the company that was running the theater, said his clients were ready to assume the lease on the theater and pay the money they owe landlords Nick and Lola Kampf. START has made public plans to cut operating expenses by $500,000 to $1.65 million, and hopes to book around 30 shows at the State this year. Details.
