Abstract
Artist Katarina Weslien and her husband, Bill Alcorn, and painter Alison Hildreth and her husband, Horace, purchased the Calderwood Building on Pleasant Street in Portland from the Maine College of Art for slightly more than $300,000. The building has been renamed The Bakery, and will house The Peregrine Press printmaking collective, photographer Jay York, the dance studio of Daniel McCusker and Lisa Hicks, sculptor Celeste Roberge and former photography gallery owner Betsy Evans-Hunt. The new tenants believe the building fills a big need for art space in Portland. Details.
