Abstract
Members of Portland's Woodfords Congregational Church began complaining last fall that Rev. Bill Gregory, who took a stand against last November's anti-gay referendum, was too political in the pulpit. Members voted at a special meeting June 23 to keep Gregory, and to re-examine the statement that calls for Woodfords to be an inclusive congregation. Portland's St. Luke's Cathedral ordained a lesbian to the priesthood 15 years ago, prompting many conservative parishioners to leave the congregation.
