Abstract

"City" piece on Carolyn Cosby and Concerned Maine Families. CMF is gathering signatures for a referendum that would ban same-sex marriages and bar the state from recognizing gay marriages performed in other states. Karen Geraghty of the Maine Lesbian/Gay Political Alliance is trying to rally veterans of past gay rights campaigns for Decline To Sign, an effort to block CMF's signature-gathering. Betsy Smith, a Portland activist, has been hired to head the Decline To Sign effort.
