Abstract

"City" piece on the State Theatre in Portland. State of the Art, the nonprofit group that assumed control of the theater from Perfect Pitch Inc., is struggling to make the transition from profit-driven business to charitable organization. The State claims to be making progress in promoting its own shows, and is renting the facility to outside promoters.
