Abstract
The Maine Department of Transportation has agreed to pay $810,000 of the cost of a proposed pedestrian off-ramp from the new Portland-South Portland Bridge to Knightville in South Portland. South Portland would have to contribute $90,000 to the ramp, but the city council is divided on the issue. City Councilor Nancy Larsen said the ramp in Mill Creek is adequate, and another ramp is unnecessary. Tom Doe of the MDOT said the Mill Creek ramp is one-half mile away, and the extra distance would discourage Knightville commuters from walking.
