Abstract

Letter to the editor from William H. Coogan, president of the Maine Civil Liberties Union, in response to an October 17, 1996, Casco Bay Weekly article on Mark's Showplace of Portland. The MCLU talked with the lawyer for Mark's Showplace about reports that lesbians and unaccompanied women were being turned away from the establishment, and was assured that Mark's would not turn away customers on either of those bases.
