Abstract
Related articles on Portland's obscenity ordinance, enacted by city voters in November 1992. The city is ignoring the growing amount of pornography available over the Internet, while continuing to enforce the ordinance by targeting adult book stores and theaters. Rick MacPherson, a gay activist who runs the advocacy group Fed-Up Queers in Maine, is considering filing a lawsuit over police reaction to some of the flyers he has posted in Portland. The Maine Civil Liberties Union is considering filing a lawsuit to have part of Portland's obscenity ordinance declared unconstitutional.
