Abstract

"Congress Street Minutes" piece, second in a two-part series on Portland's solid waste management strategy. Regional Waste Systems last year collected 180,000 tons of waste from 20 communities. Each public dollar spent on curbside recycling yielded 13 pounds of recyclables, while each dollar spent on drop-off sites yielded 160 pounds.
