Abstract
"Edge" piece on the first International Theremin Festival, to be held in Portland June 16-21. The festival, organized by music scholar Olivia Mattis, 34, of Portland, is in honor of Russian inventor Leon Theremin, the theremin's creator and father of electronic music. The theremin is an obscure musical instrument with a tradition in classical music that goes back 70 years.
