Abstract

"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on political campaign finance reform. Former Maine Treasurer Sam Shapiro collected contributions from investment firms, and funneled the money to Democratic legislators. Republicans in the Maine Legislature introduced "An Act to Ensure Ethical Conduct in the Office of Treasurer of State," which was defeated.
