Abstract

"Short Cuts" piece about what it means for the Rustic Overtones, a popular Portland band, to have signed a recording contract with Arista. The contract, said to be worth $1 million dollars, will be paid the band in the form of advances. If the the record sales fail to generate enough sales to recover those costs, the burden will fall on the Overtones to make up the difference. Details.
