Abstract

"Edge" piece on three restaurateurs who have opened barbecue restaurants on Portland's Munjoy Hill in the last few years. Norm Jabar opened Norm's Barbecue on Middle Street in 1995. Lewiston native, Bob Ballou, runs BBQ Bob's on Cumberland Avenue and Jonathan St. Laurent, who opened the original Uncle Billy's in South Portland in 1989, now has a restaurant on Newbury Street. With descriptions of the owners and the different barbecue barbecue each has evolved.
