Abstract

"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on Pat LaMarche, a independent gubernatorial candidate who has the support of the Green Party. LaMarche had a change of heart about supporting a possible state government purchase of the 911,000 acres being sold by Sappi Ltd. , when she encountered a crowd at a public forum in Greenville that was hostile to the idea Faced with such hostility she said that she didn't necessarily support the state's purchase of the land, but when later pressed to clarify her position, she admitted that she still favors state purchase of the land.
