Abstract

Elijah Akilo, 30, a native of Nigeria, and Greg Collymore, 25, are meeting a local need by providing local teenagers with hip-hop clothes. Akilo and Collymore opened their Strictly Culture store on Congress Street in Portland two years ago and have started a second store, the Tunnel, in the Auburn Mall. Akilo also works for the People's Regional Opportunity Program. He wants to break down stereotypes, be a good role model, and teach drug prevention, while selling clothes to his young clientele.
