Abstract

"Talk" piece with educator Maggie Allen, who for two years has used a superhero persona to help teach her fifth-grade class at Waldo T. Skillin Elementrary School in South Portland. Allen has assumed the persona of Xena, Warrior Teacher, to make a connection with a television character her pupils know about, which makes it easier for her to deliver the messages she wants to give them.
