Abstract

"Essay" piece criticizing Maine's Business Equipment Tax Reimbursement (BETR) law as a massive giveaway, inequitable and a shotgun approach to industrial development. In fiscal year 2000, BETR is estimated to cost over $40 million, and in 2001 over $60 million.
