Abstract
"Cover Story" piece on Portland's art community, its moral limits, and good taste. With special focus on the artistic works of Carlo Pittore, founder of the Union of Maine Visual Artists; recent stage performances of "Manifest," "9," "Jeffrey," "Angels in America" and other avant-garde productions; Flaming Productions and other small groups at the radical end of the theatrical spectrum; and even traveling poster shows. Whether it's dance, theater or visual arts, there isn't a pattern to what will offend people.
