Abstract

"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on a State Planning Office report released in March, which predicts a rosy economic future for New England because of the region's dominance in high tech jobs and concentration in rapidly growing industries. The author revisits reports produced by the State Planning Office in the 1980s and early 1990s that promised much more than they delivered.
