Abstract
"Cover Story" piece on Luis Palau, 64, a native Argentinian and naturalized U.S. citizen, who resides in Portland, Ore. Palau's Mission Maine evangelical crusade is coming to the Cumberland County Civic Center April 28 through May 1, and will also visit Presque Isle, Lewiston, Augusta, Bangor and Bath. Palau has been hailed as the heir apparent to Billy Graham, whose radio message moved him to pursue a career in evangelism in the 1950s. According to literature supplied by Palau's organization, over the last 33 years Palau has led 380 crusades and rallies, attended by a total of 13 million people. He is credited with inspiring 711,283 people to make "known decisions for Jesus Christ." With an illustrated biography of the evangelist and examples of his evangelizing style.
