Abstract
"City" piece on former state representative Annette Hoglund of Portland and her husband, Peter Hoglund Sr., co-owners of Portland's Yankee Bingo, who pleaded guilty in Cumberland County Superior Court on April 8 to two charges of illegal gambling. According to court records, the company kept $2,000 to $3,000 in profits from games it ran on July 14 and 15, 1998. State law mandates that only nonprofit groups can benefit from bingo proceeds. Yankee Bingo closed Dec. 1, 1998, and another company now operates games at the same site.
