Abstract

"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on state Senate President Mark Lawrence's plan to stop a proposed half-percent reduction in the sales tax. Instead of a $60 million tax cut, the senator wants to use that money to increase state aid to local schools. Also with reference to a segment of Michael Moore's "The Awful Truth" scheduled to be aired on the Bravo cable channel on May 23 and focusing on U.S. Secretary of Defense William Cohen.
