Abstract

"Cover Story" piece on the culture of convenience, as in convenience stores, which boast neither ethnic flavor nor exotic offerings, opting instead for almost every mass-produced form of frozen, disposable, plastic-wrapped, bottled and ready-to-eat merchandise available. With special focus on the Cumberland Farms convenience store on the corner of Brackett and Pine streets in Portland's West End.
