Abstract

"City" piece on a proposal by Portland city officials that would close the portion of State Street that cuts through Deering Oaks. Anne Pringle, president of the Friends of Deering Oaks, said the city made a terrible mistake when it allowed the Oaks to be bisected by State Street in 1973. The goal is to return the Oaks to its former glory of the 1800s.
