Abstract
"City" piece on a contest between two well-known local figures who might both run for the Portland city council seat being vacated by Councilor George Campbell. Mary Westort Casale, the ex-wife of Joseph Casale, a former Portland mayor who died in January 1999, and Peter O'Donnell, a former Portland mayor and a leader of the 1992 effort to pass a city gay rights ordinance, are both expected to announce their candidacy for Campbell's seat.
