Abstract
Maine Front Runners, an organization that gives gays and lesbians a chance to combine exercise with an opportunity to do some socializing, was founded in April 1995 by Jim Estes and John Bean. They got idea of forming the Maine chapter after attending the Gay Games in New York in 1994, where they met Front Runners from all of the world. Maine Front Runners have been running Portland's Back Cove every Saturday at 9 A.M. for the five years, rain or shine. The group welcomes straits, as long as they're friendly. Members like Estes, Sara Karam, and Jody Brinser particularly enjoy the social aspect of the group.
