Angus King, who wants to give Idexx Corp. of Westbrook $2.5 million in state aid to keep the biotech company in Maine, which is in addition to an undisclosed amount Portland officials are offering to lure the company to the Bayside neighborhood. On May 31, city and state officials met with George Campbell, a consultant for Idexx and a former Portland city councilor, and David Shaw, the firm's president, to discuss strategies for keeping the company in Maine.
