Abstract

Deirdre Nice, 31, owner of Silly's restaurant on Portland's Cumberland Avenue, Democratic National Committeewoman since 1992, and volunteer for Jerry Brown during the last presidential campaign, recently purchased the 1897 St. Lawrence Congregational Church on Munjoy Hill with partner Bill Maselli. The two are not sure what their plans for the church entail, but have talked about a whole foods restaurant in the basement, live music, child care, and community, educational and arts-oriented programs in the available lecture space.
