Abstract

"City" piece on a proposal by Portland city councilor Jack Dawson that would have extended the hours proprietors of portable food carts can operate on city streets. Dawson's proposal would have allowed vendors to sell food past midnight, the current limit allowed under city ordinance. But Dawson has dropped the proposal at the request of Portland police chief Mike Chitwood, who feared it would increase traffic in the Old Port after hours.
