Abstract

"City" piece on the Portland-based international ferry Scotia Prince and its new owner, the Scottish Transport Group (STG), headed by investor Matthew C. Hudson of Miami, Florida. An unidentified crew member says he and others have had their salaries cut by as much as 60 percent, and they have to work longer hours under the new owner. Several of the ship's officers, including its captain, Hartmut Rathje, have quit and are suing STG over alleged contract violations.
