Abstract
"Politics and Other Mistakes" piece on a legislative bill by Rep. John Buck, R-Yarmouth, that would have allowed any current or former legislator who had served at least eight years to qualify for taxpayer-subsidized insurance, starting at age 62. The bill was approved by both houses of the Legislature without a recorded vote. But after an article about the bill was published in the Lewiston Sun Journal, legislator's insisted on a roll-call vote for final passage and it was overwhelmingly defeated.
