Abstract

"Cover Story" piece taking an undercover look at life inside the Milestone Foundation's Portland shelter for drunk, homeless men over a period of five consecutive nights. The Milestone Foundation, formerly the Arnie Hanson Center and known on the street as The Club, is a nonprofit, emergency, homeless shelter on Portland's India Street funded by the city, the state, some Medicaid reimbursement money and private donations. Every night, up to 29 drunken men come to The Club seeking shelter until dawn.
